KYBELLA™ Injections for a Double Chin – Minneapolis Facial Plastic Surgeon Discusses a Revolutionary New Treatment
Dr. Jess Prischmann says KYBELLA™ is the first cosmetic enhancement option available that can effectively reduce excess fat under the chin without the need for surgery.
Minneapolis, MN – A “double chin” is an extraordinarily common condition that can be experienced by people of all body types, even those who are in relatively good shape. Excess fat under the chin and in the upper area of the neck can often be difficult to eliminate through diet and exercise, leaving many individuals feeling frustrated and self-conscious. Dr. Jess Prischmann, a Minneapolis facial plastic surgeon, says surgical liposuction has traditionally been the only effective option in most cases; however, a new procedure called KYBELLA™ may be a true game changer.
KYBELLA™ is the first injectable treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to specifically address excess fat under the chin (submental fullness). The KYBELLA™ solution contains a molecule called deoxycholic acid, which occurs naturally in the human body. Deoxycholic acid essentially destroys fat cells, and KYBELLA™ utilizes the molecule to do just that in targeted areas of the chin. Once the excess fat cells have broken down, they will be gradually filtered from the body through natural metabolic process. Dr. Prischmann says KYBELLA™ is entirely injection-based, and there is absolutely no surgery or extended recovery times involved. She notes that the treatment can typically be performed as in-office procedure and is usually completed in about 15 to 20 minutes.
Dr. Prischmann says KYBELLA™ has shown to significantly reduce the appearance of a double chin and enhance the patient’s profile. Some patients may require multiple treatment sessions to obtain the best possible results; however, Dr. Prischmann reveals that the effects of KYBELLA™ are intended to be permanent. This is a true distinction from other cosmetic injectables, which typically require ongoing maintenance treatments for years.
While KYBELLA™ may be an ideal option for patients who are experiencing excess fat under the chin, Dr. Prischmann says it’s important to remember that this procedure is likely not beneficial for those who suffer from loose, inelastic skin in this area. She advises individuals considering treatment for a double chin to schedule a consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon to have their needs evaluated and explore their options. With that in mind, Dr. Prischmann believes patients who are candidates for KYBELLA™ can take advantage of a revolutionary treatment that offers an exciting new option for improving a very common condition.
