What Is Daxxify?
Daxxify is the first-of-its-kind long-acting neuromodulator. Studies have shown similar effects to Botox and Dysport but increased duration of action.1 In some patients, Daxxify took as many as 9 months to fully wear off.

How Does Daxxify Work?
Daxxify is a type of medication called a neuromodulator that works by inhibiting the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles. When injected into the muscles responsible for causing wrinkles, it relaxes them, leading to a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Similar to Botox and Dysport, Daxxify blocks the release of acetylcholine, which plays a role in muscle contraction. This leads to temporary muscle activity reduction and a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles. What makes Daxxify unique is that it is able to reach the site of action more effectively than Botox and Dysport. This means that more of the active ingredient is able to reach its target.
Daxxify is usually administered through a series of injections. The procedure is generally quick and relatively painless, with effects visible within a few days.
Candidates For Daxxify

During Your Treatment
Before the injection, Dr. Prischmann will clean the treatment area with an antiseptic solution. She will then administer the Daxxify injections according to your customized treatment plan.
After Your Treatment
After receiving Daxxify injections, you should be able to return to your normal activities immediately. Some people may experience mild side effects such as swelling, redness, pain, or tenderness at the injection site, but these effects usually resolve within a few days.

What is Daxxify used for?
Daxxify is FDA-approved for the treatment of glabellar lines (AKA frown lines or “11’s”). It is currently being studied for other uses. It can be used elsewhere on the face and neck and this is considered “off-label.”
How does Daxxify differ from Botox or Dysport?
Daxxify is formulated so it has a similar amount of active ingredient to Botox (meaning it is NOT a “stronger” product). Daxxify is thought to be a more effective product because it contains something called a proprietary peptide. This peptide makes Daxxify stay at the site of action longer than Botox or Dysport. Because it sticks around longer, it gets into cells more effectively. Because it gets into cells more effectively, it is thought to be more potent.
Is Daxxify safe?
Daxxify is safe and effective in the treatment of frown lines.2 The safety data of Daxxify is similar to that of Botox and Dysport for cosmetic use. When studied for frown lines, the most common side effect was headache (4.6%). Other treatment-related side effects included injection site pain (3.6%), injection site redness (3.0%), and injection site swelling (2.8%).3 One notable side effect was eyelid drooping, which occurred in 1.3% of study subjects.

How much does Daxxify cost?
Daxxify does not allow its providers to publish the exact cost of the treatment. Patients can expect to spend more than a conventional Botox treatment. The yearly cost of Daxxify may be less than Botox or Dysport if Daxxify results in fewer overall treatments.
What does Dr. Prischmann think of Daxxify?
In her early experience, Daxxify seems to give better results in the glabella area compared to Botox or Dysport.
