The term “liquid facelift” refers to using a combination of injectables and dermal fillers to rejuvenate the face. By providing volume and a subtle lift, a liquid facelift can be an excellent procedure for mild/moderate aging. It is not a replacement for facial plastic surgery, but, when done correctly, a liquid facelift can give excellent results with minimal downtime.
Who is a good candidate?
- Appropriate expectations. A liquid facelift cannot remove excess skin or provide substantial lift to the jowls or neckline.
- Mild/moderate wrinkles around the eyes and forehead
- Early volume loss in the face
How is the procedure performed?
After a consultation, Dr. Jess Prischmann will offer advice on which combination of injectables will give the most natural result. Often, the procedure can be performed the same day. Numbing creams and local blocks are sometimes used. Depending on the treatment plan, the procedure can take 30-60 minutes.
What is the recovery?
Downtime depends on the extent of the procedure and the type of injectable(s) used. In general, injection site redness resolves in an hour. Mild swelling may last a couple of days. Bruising can last up to a week, but can usually be covered by makeup. Some injectables, such as Sculptra®, require patients to perform facial massage for 5 days.
